The Maribel Caves Hotel was built in 1900 and was primarily a spa that attracted people who wanted to take advantage of the nearby mineral springs. It operated until the mid 20s and some years later was operated as a tavern. It was destroyed by fire in 1985. Only the shell of the building remains.
On Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 the skeleton of the hotel was destroyed by a tornado. Only the south wall and SW corner of the building remain.
